Electric Vehicle (EV) Supervisory Control

New Eagle has an EV supervisory template to allow for custom, quick EV supervisory controller applications. We use MotoHawk on production ECUs for quick prototypes that can go to production. Our supervisory template can include the following interfaces:

  • Driver Interfaces including accelerator and brake
  • Vehicles performance including defined regenerative braking
  • Dashboard Integration
  • Electric Accessories control including Power Steering, DC
  • Thermal System Management
  • Flexible communications gateway via CAN / discrete
  • Inverter and Battery Management Interfaces
  • Contactor control with capacitor pre-charge

New Products - Electric Vehicle (EV) Related

Netway Rugged Line
New Eagle is a reseller of the SMtools Netway products. We found a need for a communication CAN gateway (multiple high speed and two single wire GMLAN CAN) with external circuitry. We developed an embedded housing with a daughter board for custom I/O.

J1772 Charger Interface
The Vehicle Power Interface Module (VPIM) provides the necessary circuitry to interface with Electric or Plug-In Hybrid Electric (EV/PHEV) vehicles charging equipment in accordance with the SAEJ1772 specification.

The VPIM allows the vehicle systems and ECUs that require a low current "Sleep" mode to be managed externally by the VPIM. The VPIM monitors the inputs and provides an output that will drive an external "Wake Up"
relay which in turn provides power to the systems connected.

Vehicle Integration Module(for EVs)
The VIM-5517-24 Vehicle Integration Controller family is under development and it consists of a rugged automotive grade stand-alone controller or as an I/O expansion to the existing line of MotoHawk ECUs.

This controller has a Simulink® programming interface controlling applications which include Controller Watchdog and Wake-Up on CAN or Charger Interface (J1772) for vehicle supervisory applications requiring low power sleep modes. Multiple CAN Hardware choices allow this module to act as a CAN "Gateway" to systems requiring differing communications protocols.

Other important differences to the VIM will be its UDS bootloader and Diagnostics stack for automotive applications.
